Beekeeping: Honey Production, Extraction and Harvesting with Amy Weeks

Beekeeping can be a challenging but profitable addition to your landscape. Learning about how to meet those challenges improves your success and profitability. This course will introduce you to how beekeeping can be incorporated into your existing small farm plan. Topics covered include Basic Beekeeping Background information, managing hives for honey production and harvesting, the importance of pollination, value-added products as well as an extraction demonstration. Anyone interested in learning how to incorporate beekeeping into their farm plan is welcome, including beginners and non-beekeepers. If you have a bee suit, feel free to bring it. A limited number of suits will be available for the field demonstration.
