Retired Project Specialist, Rapides Soil and Water Conservation District
Dexter Sapp retired from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) on January 3, 2019, after a 40-year career with the agency. Dexter received his undergraduate degree in Agronomy from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, in August 1978. While employed with the USDA-NRCS, Dexter received 18 work-related awards and is the past recipient of the Cenla Federal Employee of the Year Award. He is a resident of Alexandria, Louisiana. As the Project Specialist with the Rapides SWCD, Dexter provided Outreach duties for NRCS in which he worked with grassroots and community-based organizations as well as other USDA agencies and partners in promoting USDA programs and services to veterans, and underserved rural and urban communities throughout the State of Louisiana. Dexter also assisted NRCS with federally funded Public Law 566 Small Watershed projects.
